The Utah Transportation Commission has changed the name of the West Valley Highway to the Norman H. Bangerter Highway.

The commission was acting on a resolution of the 1993 Legislature to rename the highway in honor Bangerter's commitment to fund construction of the roadway, which stretches along the west side of Salt Lake Valley where Bangerter lived before his two terms as governor.A ceremony to rename the highway will be held May 21 at 1 p.m., near where 2100 South intersects the highway.
