The body of a hiker who accidentally fell 700 feet off a cliff in Zion National Park last week has been identified as Affin William Phillips, 21, of Salt Lake City.

Washington County sheriff's Sgt. Rymal Hinton said Phillips was identified through dental records. He carried no identification, so several days were needed to learn who he was.Other hikers found the body Friday evening and notified National Park Service officials that night. The canyon was too narrow for rescuers to use a helicopter to lift the body out, and a search party sent in overnight was turned back.

Phillips' body was recovered Saturday afternoon.

Phillips appears to have fallen from icy slopes while climbing. He had neither climbing gear nor ropes and wore only sweat pants and moccasins, Davies said.
