Orem City Council
In its May 25 meeting, the Orem City Council:
- Set a public hearing to consider rezoning property on the south side of Center Street between 1000 West and 1160 West for Tuesday, June 22, at 7 p.m.
- Granted a conditional use permit for the construction of an LDS Church meetinghouse at 426 South 100 West.
- Rezoned property in the vicinity of 600 West Center Street from R-1-8 to R-1-7.5. The applicant wants to develop the property with twin homes.
- Amended the Land Use Plan of the Orem Community Master Plan and rezoned land at 200 North 100 East to allow for the construction of Timp View Condominiums. A conditional use permit and preliminary development plan for the 88-unit complex was also approved following a public hearing.
- Approved a conditional use permit for property located at 655 N. 400 West and approved a preliminary development plan of Simpson's Kingwood PUD, a 4-unit development.
- Decided to apply for a low-interest loan from the Utah Water Quality Board.
- Sent the task of landscaping the Palisades Drive planter strip to the beautification committee.
Orem Redevelopment Agency
In its May 25 meeting, the Orem Redevelopment Agency:
- Approved the Lakeview Apartments student housing project at 611 W. 1200 South.
On the agenda
Provo City Council
- In its June 1 meeting, the Provo City Council will:
- Hold a public hearing on the proposed $81 million 1993-94 city budget. Mayor Mike Hill has recommended a $1 per room lodging tax or a 1 percent increase in franchise fees.
- Consider an ordinance eliminating a requirement that the city pay interest on refunds of customer deposits.
- Consider amending an ordinance to set uniform fees for copying records and to provide retention schedules for records not listed on the Utah Municipal General Records Retention Schedule.
- Meet as the Provo Redevelopment Agency to consider changes to the boundaries of a redevelopment district in south Provo, the site of a proposed shopping mall.
Orem City County
In its meeting Tuesday, June 1, the Orem City Council is scheduled to:
- Set a public hearing for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, to consider rezoning property at 400 West Center Street from R-1-6.5 and R-1-8 to PC-2.
- Consider a preliminary development plan for Country Springs Apartments, a 164-unit complex planned for 700 South Orem Blvd.
- Discuss the responsibility for improvements in planned residential developments.
- Consider amending the land use plan of the Orem Community Master Plan to rezone land at 1050 N. State from transitional to community shopping and from R-1-6.5 to C-3. The council will also consider approving a concept plan for Beacon Hill Apartments, a 252-unit complex, planned for the site.
- Consider a resolution to change the speed limit on 800 South, west of State Street, to 30 mph.
- Discuss the regulation of cigarette displays.
- Continue discussion of the status of the Northridge Park Bridge Project.
- Hear a report on the strategic plan overview.
- Consider a resolution to adopt the Foothills Trail Policy Statement for Orem.
- Consider an ordinance to establish the Appeal Board and method of selecting membership. Also, the council will consider designating two council members to sit on the board.

Orem Planning Commission
During is meeting Wednesday, June 2, the Orem City Planning Commission will:
- Hold public hearings on the View West subdivision, 1479 S. 360 West, and the Kingswood subdivision, 655 N. 400 West.
- Consider approving concurrent plats for the Grant subdivision, 681 S. Palisade Dr.
- Consider granting conditional use permits for Northwood Apartments, 585 W. 1600 North, the Ratliff Chiropractic Center, 893 E. 800 North, and Diane Baldarrago Day Care Center, 1157 S. 400 West.
- Consider site plans for Staton Park, 1000 S. Orem Blvd, and B&B/Sounds Easy, 1650 N. State
- Consider site plan amendments for Bonneville Roofing Supply, 1521 W. 400 South, and Rick Warner Nissan, 200 E. 1300 South.
The Planning Commission holds a work session in the Conference Room at the City Center, 56 N. State at 5:30 p.m. Its regular meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings are open to the public.
Orem Board of Adjustment
During its meeting Thursday, June 3, the Orem City Board of Adjustment will discuss:
- New Concept Siding's request for a side-yard setback variance at 55 W. 700 North.
- Vaughn Clegg's request for a lot width variance at 950 W. 680 South.
- Leon Hartshorn's request for a lot width variance at 348 N. 1000 East.
The Board of Adjustment holds a work session at 5:30 p.m. in the Room 111 at the City Center, 56 N. State. Its regular meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at the City Center. Both meetings are open to the public.
