An Intermountain Sewing and Needle Arts Conference has been planned for June 15-18 at Brigham Young University. It will include 76 classes, 65 workshops and 65 presenters.
Some of the class titles are: "A Dress for the Prom - Help for Mom!," "Beautiful Scrap Quilts," "Bridal Headpieces," "Cut Your Sewing Time in Half," "Fashion That Fits," "Fast and Easy Pieced Quilts" and "Tailoring Techniques." Classes last one hour and will have a lecture/demonstration format.Workshops include "Beginning Fashion Illustration," "Beginning Tatting," "Decorative Serging," "Folk Art Machine Embroidery" and "Couching, Machine Cutwork and No-Sweat Sweatshirts." They last two or three hours and allow for hands-on experience.
Several preconference workshops will be held June 10-15.
There will be a merchants' mall featuring needlework suppliers and representatives from all the major machine companies.
Special guest for the event will be Martha Pullen, an expert in "French Sewing - by Machine." She will share her tips and techniques in a daily three-hour fashion and slide show.
Early registration fee (registrations postmarked on or before June 8) is $85 for the full conference or $35 for one day only. After June 8, fees are $90 and $40.
