David Jay Davis, Sr., age 77, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, died May 8, 1993 in a Salt Lake hospital of natural causes.
Jay was born November 25, 1915 in Centerville, Utah, the son of John Stuart and Alice Randall Davis. He graduated from Malad High School. He married Hollis Marie Gorringe on March 10, 1948 in Las Vegas, Nevada; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Jay was a World War II veteran, US Army Air Corps. He retired in 1980 from employment with UDOT as a mechanic.Survivors include his loving wife, Hollis, of Salt Lake City; a son, David Jay, Jr. (wife Debra) of Trenton, Utah, daughter, Catherine (husband Leonard) Schwartz, South Jordan, Utah, and sons, Layne Stuart (wife Mary Jo), Amalga, Utah, and Blair Rex (wife Sherri), Salt Lake City; and 15 grandchildren. Survived by sisters, Elva Hill, Bountiful, Utah, Delma (husband Robert) Davis, Gresham, Oregon; and a brother, Rollin S.( wife Margaret) of Salt Lake City and is currently serving as Mission President in Argentina.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 11, 12 noon, at the East Mill Creek Stake Center, 3100 East 3650 South. Friends may call Monday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the services.
