Walter Alvin (Nig) Tate, age 74, died Saturday May 8, 1993 at home with his family after a lingering illness.
He was born July 1, 1918 at Coleman, Oklahoma to James Watt and Julia Darter Tate. He married Beverly A. Everett December 18, 1944 at Randlette, Oklahoma. She died July 14, 1983. He worked at Chevron Refinery for 33 years. He pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Salt Lake Bees. He served with the US Army during World War II. He loved fishing, golf, his children, and Christy, his black Lab dog.Survivors include his children, Michael A. Tate and Sandy Douglas, both Bountiful; two grandchildren, Allyson and Kris Douglas; brothers and sisters: Floyd and Helen Tate, Gracemont Oklahoma; Orville and Violet Tate, Minco, Oklahoma; Roy and Lona Schenk, Chickasha, Oklahoma; Gerald and Donna Tate, Burleson, Texas; Winfred and Geneva Tate, Allen Reed, Texas; Floyd and Della V. Woods, Anadarko, Okla.; Bill and Oreta Sage, Anadarko, Okla.; Mrs. Kenneth (Marilyn) Tate, Burleson, Texas. Preceded in death by a brother Kenneth.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 11, 1993 at 11 a.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery , Bountiful. Friends may call one hour prior to graveside services at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main.
