Shery, born March 11, 1980, is an outgoing teenager. Artistic pursuits interest her, particularly drawing, painting and coloring. She also enjoys music and cooking.

Shery has been in three foster homes and two adoptive placements that didn't work out. She is currently in a very structured home and her social worker says she does well in group-home settings. As a result of abuse, neglect and abandonment, Shery wants to be equal with adults and "mothers" her peers. She has difficulty expressing her feelings appropriately and can be argumentative and defensive. Shery likes to be the center of attention. She is working on improving her interpersonal relationships in therapy.A sixth-grader, Shery is a year behind in school. She says she wants to be adopted and have the opportunity to grow up and be an artist.

A two-parent family or single mother is needed to help Shery learn to succeed as a member of a supportive and stable family. A Mormon family is preferred, though others will be considered. Shery is good with very young children and her social worker feels that she could be the youngest, oldest or only child in the family. She will need to stay in touch with her older brother. Financial assistance is available.
