Morgan Chester Hess, age 84, died June 11, 1993 in West Jordan, Utah of incidents due to age.
He was born August 23, 1908 in Fielding, Utah, a son of Jedidiah Morgan Hess, Jr. and Alice Laub. He married Ellen Elizabeth Clarke in Loa, Utah on April 2, 1928. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. His sweetheart died November 7, 1991.Morgan retired from Pacific Intermountain Express after 25 years of distinguished driving, where he had been selected Driver of the Year. He and Ellen served a mission in the Sacramento, California mission from 1977-78. He was a temple worker in the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples until his health prevented further service. He will long be remembered for his ability to make anything he wanted and for his terrific sense of humor.
He is survived by his three sons: M. Earl Hess, Denver; Vernile L. Hess, West Bountiful, Utah; and Marion (Butch) Hess, Albuquerque, New Mexico; his four daughters: Mrs. Joseph (Ireta) Schuring, Ephraim, Utah; Mrs. Eugene (Martha) Kinsman, West Jordan, Utah; Lavon Harding, Sandy, Utah; and Leanora E. Paul, Ephraim, Utah. He is also survived by 41 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; as well as three brothers: Noal Hess, Salt Lake City, Utah; Lorin Hess, Bountiful, Utah; and Floyd Hess, Granada Hills, California; and two sisters: Mrs. Elbert (Nina) Beecher and Thelma Brailsford, both of Brigham City, Utah.
Preceded in death by a son, Chester Deloy Hess, and a sister, Mrs. Howard (Mary) Paul.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 14, 1993 at 11 a.m. in the Riverton Third Ward, 12888 South Redwood Road, Riverton, Utah. There will be a viewing Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah and one hour prior to the funeral Monday at the chapel.
