Our beloved, Ruth LaPriel Damron Dorius, 80, passed away following a long ilness in Salt Lake City on June 11, 1993.

Born November 24, 1912 in Deseret, Utah, the daughter of Joseph Warren and Mary Abiah Kelly Damron. Married Earl Nelson Dorius, September 7, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died August 7, 1983.Ruth graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah. She was employed in the credit department of Woodward and Lothrop in Washington, D.C., and was a professional genealogist.

An active member of the LDS Church, she devoted her life to teaching young children in the Primary and Junior Sunday School. She served an LDS Mission with her husband in the Liberty Stake 4th Ward, Salt Lake City. An accomplished violinist, she performed with string ensembles and chamber music societies on radio and in various embassies in Washington, D.C. An oil painting artist, she was a member of the Westwood, California Art Association.

She resided with her family in Salt Lake City, Westwood, California, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. She loved to travel with her husband, visiting with presidents, ambassadors, and government dignitaries from throughout the world.

She is survived by her two children, Mrs. John P. (Ruth Carole) Detamore and Earl Fredric (Kathy) Dorius, both of Salt Lake City; sisters, Mariam "Mayme" Cropper, Salt Lake City, and Virgilia "Jill" Dysart, Oakland, California; 7 grandchildren, Mrs. Scott M. (Jennifer) Allen, Dawn, Ashley, Amanda, Joshua and Adam Dorius, all of Salt Lake City, and John Les (Jill) Detamore, Clearfield, Utah; and four great grandchildren. Preceded in death by sisters Norma Wright, Lucile Baker, and Marguerite Damron, and one brother, Joseph Ladd Damron.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 12 noon at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, where friends may call Monday, 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.

The family expresses appreciation to the staffs of Loma Linda University Medical Center, Holy Cross Hospital, and Salt Lake Community Nursing, and recognizes the loving care of Carole and John, Ruth's daughter and son-in-law, who selflessly opened their home, hearts, and supporting arms to her when it was needed most.
