Michael E. Pulitzer has been elected chairman of the board of the Pulitzer Publishing Co. to succeed his brother, the late Joseph Pulitzer Jr., the company said.

Pulitzer will continue to serve as president and chief executive. He had been acting chairman since his brother's death last month.Pulitzer Publishing publishes the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and The Arizona Daily Star in Tucson, and owns the Daily Southtown in suburban Chicago, seven television stations and two radio stations.
