Minor flooding hit Vernal Thursday afternoon. One or two feet of water filled the gutters, while the hills west of town were white with hail.

Snow fell on the higher mountains throughout Utah, including 6 inches on Hidden Peak in the Snowbird Ski Resort area near Salt Lake City, and 4 inches at Brian Head resort near Cedar City. Hailstones ranging from small to pea-size pummeled Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area at the Wyoming border; Price; Boulder, Garfield County; and Randlett, Uintah County.But the storms that swept through Utah on Thursday were on their way out of the state Friday, said William J. Alder, meteorologist in charge of the National Weather Service's Salt Lake Forecast Office.

The weekend promises to be glorious, with temperatures in the mid-70s Friday, mid-80s Saturday and near 90 on Sunday. The weather sound be fine for Father's Day picnics.
