Pop star Whitney Houston was taken to a Miami Beach hospital last week after overdosing on prescription diet pills, a newspaper reported Monday.
Houston, 29, was apparently frustrated by the pounds she put on during her recent pregnancy and became even more depressed after a chance encounter last month with a svelte Janet Jackson, the New York Post reported.Jackson once dated Houston's husband, singer Bobby Brown.
After complaining to Brown of nausea and lightheadedness, Houston was taken to Miami Beach's Mount Sinai Hospital on Thursday, the Post said.
She was diagnosed with acute heart arrhythmia, apparently brought on by her diet pills, the Post said. She was released about 90 minutes later.
At the time of her wedding last year, Houston weighed 100 pounds. Her weight doubled during her pregnancy, the newspaper said. Since giving birth to a daughter in March, Houston has weighed between 140 pounds and 150 pounds, the Post said.
