Melvyn Rushton Moss, age 71, died Sunday, July 11, 1993, in American Fork, Utah from complications of Alzheimer's Disease.

He was born on June 25, 1922 in Iona, Idaho to George McAllister and Thelma Rushton Moss. Mel grew up in American Fork, Utah and lived most of his life in Salt Lake City. He married Jeanne Strom in Salt Lake City, July 27, 1940; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, May 12, 1942. He was happily married for 53 years and was High Priest in the Monument Park Seventh Ward. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired as a conductor for the Rio Grande Railroad after 40 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially his cabin in Soapstone, where he loved to fish.He is survived by his loving wife, who cared for him for the past several years; his mother, Thelma Moss Villanueva, St. George, Utah; son and daughter-in-law, M. Robert and Nancy Moss, Houston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and David Summers, Highland, Utah; six grandchildren; four great-grandsons; brother, George McAllister Moss, Jr., Salt Lake City; sister, Colleen Simkins, Hurricane, Utah. He was preceded in death by his father and daughter, Mary Jeanne.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15, at 12 noon, at the Monument Park Seventh Ward Chapel, 1794 S. Texas Street (2390 East), Salt Lake City. Friends may call at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 South, Wednesday, 7-9 p.m., and at the ward Thursday, 10:45-11:45 a.m., prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
