NORTHERN REGION Bear Lake

Good trolling on surface with small spoons for 12- to 14-inch cutthroats. Good launching conditions at Cisco Beach, Rainbow Cove and First Point.

Bear River - Running high and muddy. Very good fishing for catfish. River is receding by the Corinne Bridge.

Blacksmith Fork - New regulations are in force this year. Whole stream is open to bait fishing. Fishermen may keep 8 trout, but only one ay be a cutthroat or trout with cutthroat markings. Small mayfly, caddis and stonelfy hatches daily.

Causey Reservoir - Good for small rainbow.

East Canyon - Good for 10- to 12-inch rainbow near inlet.

Echo Reservoir - Moderate pressure. Having some luck for rainbows. Catfishing good near inlet.

Farmington Pond - Construction around reservoir causing limited access. Stocked and good fishing. Stocked about every other week.

Honeyville Ponds - Recently stocked.

Hyrum - Fair for bluegill and yellow perch. Some rainbows being caught. Minimum size on bass is 15 inches.

Kaysville - Fair for bass, bluegill and catfish with traditional baits.

Little Creek - Has been stocked.

Logan River - River running fast. Cutthroat limit is one fish. Flies and lures only from Card Canyon to Bridge

Lost Creek - Good for small rainbow and cutthroats, especially from boats.

Mantua - New state bluegill record caught July 5th -- 111/2 inches long and weight 2 pounds, 7 ounces.

Mill Hollow - Open and stocked.

Newton Reservoir - Bass fishing picking up, and some nice bluegill show up. Should pick up catfish now they are spawning. 15-inch minimum size on bass.

Ogden River - Flows down and river clearing. Lures (spinners and jigs) and night crawlers best. Has been stocked.

Pineview - Water high. Crappie fishing good. Try small jigs (white or chartreuse) 3 to 4 feet below bobber.

Porcupine - Fair for rainbow.

Rockport - Fair for rainbow. Bass under 12 inches must be released.

Smith and Morehouse - Stocked.

South Fork - Fair for brown and cutthroat. Stocked with rainbow.

Tony Grove - Open and stocked.

Uinta Lakes - upper lakes (Mirror Lake Basin) still frozen. State Line stocked and good for small rainbow. Hoop Lake good for medium rainbow. Bridge has nice rainbow and brookies. All streams high and muddy.

Weber River - Slow for brown. Has been stocked. River running high.

Willard Bay - Crappie fishing slowed. Some nice catfish being caught on jigs, worms and stinky shrimp. Few walleye being caught on night crawlers.

CENTRAL REGION

Strawberry - Fishing for cutthroat has been excellent, but fishing for rainbows has been slow. Catching some rainbow on Power Bait. Fishermen being asked to release all cutthroat. If it looks like fish will be injured by removing the hook, then simply cut the line.

Provo River - Flows are down and becoming fishable. Catching fish on lower section on Velveeta Cheese or worms.

Utah Lake - Excellent for catfish in 4- to 6-pound class. Try carp meat and fish off the mouth of inlet streams.

Deer Creek - Pressure picking up. Excellent rainbow fishing from boat. Also biting are walleye and bass.

Nine-Mile - Fishing slow, but has been stocked. Power Bait for shore fishermen, troll pop gear and lures for boat fishermen.

SOUTHERN REGION

Yankee Meadow - Catching rainbow and brook in 11/2 to 2-pound class. Use worms and Power Bait.

Paragonah, Red Creek - Water level at spillway. Fewer fish are being taken in recent days. Use fly and a bobber early mornings and evenings.

Newcastle - Slow.

Baker - Fair for larger rainbow.

Upper Sand Cove - Slow.

Ivins Reservoir - Fair for bass.

Lower Sand Cove - Some legal bass being caught.

Gunlock - Good for catfish. Some small crappie being caught.

Duck Creek - Aspen Mirror - Light pressure. Use Power Bait, jigs, lures and flies.

Fish Lake - Boaters doing well for rainbow and splake in mornings across from Joe Bush campground. Try Power Bait or troll with pop gear and worms. A few lake trout being caught. Fish deeper areas from shore.

Johnson Reservoir - All roads clear. Recently stocked with 25,000 catchables. Moderate fishing for 12- to 14-inch rainbow. Best in mornings and evenings. Try yellow or green Power Bait.

Koosharem - Fair for 8- to 12-inch rainbow. Fishing picking up in evenings with worms or fly fishing. Boaters having moderate success with spinners or worms.

Kolob - Fair for rainbow, brook trout and cutthroat. Use Power Bait from shore. Pop gear and worms from boats.

Quail Creek - Slow for trout. Early mornings and late evenings best. Fish deep with pop gear or worm or trout. Fair for bass and bluegill.

Pine Lake - Fishing has slowed. Being stocked every two weeks. Fly fishing recommended.

Panguitch Lake - Water is high and bottom of lake is mossy. Most rainbow in 2- to 3-pound class. Fishing is slow. Best with Power Bait in 4 to 5 feet of water.

Tropic - Fishing best for rainbows at southwest corner of lake.

Otter Creek - spotty fishing. Best with Power Bait. Trolling with small pop gear and triple teasers. Most fish around 1 pound.

Piute - Slow.

Minersville - Special regulations. Artificial fly or lure only. Trout limit one fish with minimum length 20 inches. Most fish in 14- to 16-inch class. Fly fishermen i float tubes doing well using sinking line with nymph pattern. Fish rising for flies in mornings and evenings.

Beaver River - Flows decreasing.

Beaver Mountain Lakes - Access good. All lakes recently stocked with 8- to 10-inch fish. Fishing fair to good on all waters.

Gooseberry Creek - Fair fishing. Has been stocked with rainbow.

Salina Creek - Fair fishing, Bait fishing for rainbow, browns and cutthroat.

Rex Reservoir - Fair success for rainbow and cutthroat from bank.

Redmond - Fair. Bait fishing for catfish is best.

Skutumpah Reservoir - Full for the first time in years. Has been stocked with rainbow.

Corn Creek - Stocked July 1. Excellent for browns 2 miles above bridge.

Chalk Creek - Stocked July 1.

Oak Creek - Stocked July 1.

Wide Hollow Reservoir - Good for rainbow. Also starting to pick up some bluegill. Best fishing has been with Power Bait.

Posey Lake - Some people doing well, others not. Best fishing from boat.

Calf Creek - Spotty.

Deep Creek and Grass Lake - Good with flies for rainbow and cutthroat.

Mill Meadow, Forsyth, UM Creek, Fremont River - People are showing up to fish, but waters closed for all of 1993.

Boulder Mountain North Slope - Fair success with baits. Best with jigs and flies.

Donkey Reservoir - Fair fishing using spinners.

Coleman - Good with baits.

Round Lake - Good with baits.

Beaver Dam Reservoir - Fair using lures, jigs.

Lower Bowns - Fair using baits. Good trolling flatfish.

NORTHEASTERN REGION

Big Sandwash - Good success rate. Fishing from boats best, but are catching some from shore.

Browne Reservoir - Good for brooks.

Bullock - Slow, but are catching some nice fish.

Brough - Light pressure. Slow for smallmouth and largemouth.

Cottonwood - Good fishing for smallmouth. Try twist-tail grub fished slowly over rocks.

Currant Creek Reservoir - Fair fishing from shore and boat.

Currant Creek - Good fishing. Regulations on creek and tributaries above Water Hollow Creek are flies and lures only, with limit of two trout.

East Park - Fair for small rainbow and brook.

Flaming Gorge - Public meeting on future of lake trout and kokanee July 15 at 7:30 p.m. at DWR offices, 1636 W. North Temple, and July 19 at Manila Courthouse. Fishing good in evenings for small rainbows, slow for lake trout. Good to excellent for bass. Try small brown, brownish-green or copper colored.

Green River - Good to excellent. Pressure high.

Matt Warner - Fair.

Pelican Lake - Bass fishing slow.

Red Fleet - Fair to good from banks and boats for rainbow, bass and bluegill.

Sheep Creek - Light pressure, slow success but some larger fish.

Steinaker - Light pressure, fair fishing for nice rainbow. Bass fishing fair.

Starvation - Slow for browns, poor for walleye.

SOUTHEASTERN REGION

Benches - Good for those using baits or spinners. Restocked in early July.

Boulger - Good.

Blanding No. 4 - Fishing good in evenings on marshmallows or Power Bait.

Cleveland - Recently stocked with 1,700 1/2-pound fish. Will be stocked again before July 24.

Colorado River - Good in newly formed beaches and eddies for pan-sized catfish.

Duck Fork - Stocked with 2,000 catchables.

Electric Lake - Catch and release fishing has been excellent.

Gooseberry - Fishing fair to good. Stocking continued biweekly. About 12,000 catchables have been stocked.

Ken's Lake - Too warm for shoreline fishing. Float tube or raft work well out in deeper water.

Lake Powell - Striped bass being caught along steep canyon walls.

Loyd's Lake - Good with spinners and Power Bait.

Scofield - Boat fishing good. Fish taking lures and Power Bait. Boat fishing best.
