Carol Berrey, director of the Utah Office of Job Training for Economic Development for four years, has resigned, according to Rick Mayfield, director of the Utah Division of Business and Economic Development.
Berrey said that effective Aug. 2 she will be assistant to Weber State University President Paul Thompson with duties on special projects and gradually work into a role of government relations. Prior to her present assignment, she was a business and industries specialist in the Utah Office of Education.Mayfield said Greg Gardner, who has been deputy director in the job training office and most recently was project manager for a U.S. Department of Labor grant, will succeed Berrey. He has been with the office for 10 years.
The job training office administers state and federal job training money, some of which is used to retrain Utah workers who have been laid off.
