Pompeii's Nightclub in Cathedral City, Calif., a 36-year-old hangout for stars from Frank Sinatra and Lauren Bacall to Vanna White, has been gutted by a fire that authorities blame on arson.

The club's management said they planned to rebuild. No injuries were reported in the fire Wednesday."It's too famous a place to let die," said manager Steve Johns.

The club's landmark, two-story decorative volcano and an adjoining restaurant were spared.

Built in 1957, the building was originally a dining club called Romanoff's on the Rocks.
