Elvis Aron Presley was just a private looking for a good time and ready to serve his country when he arrived at the U.S. Army base in Friedberg, Germany, on Oct. 1, 1958, at the age of 23. He served 17 months over there, attaining the rank of sergeant. Thirty-five years later, people in Friedberg still recall the young Elvis with fondness, reports Life magazine, which just published never-before-seen snapshots of the young rock star. The pictures show Elvis posing with civilians - mainly with young ladies.
