Janine Johnson, Roy, was crowned the new Mrs. Utah United States in a ceremony in Sandy earlier this summer.

Twenty-three women competed for the honor and a prize package valued at $10,000.Kim Gunnell, American Fork, was named first attendant; Rachelle Joseph, Murray, second attendant; Billie Stark, Hooper, Weber County, third attendant; and Tracy Schlauch, Salt Lake City, fourth attendant.

Johnson is the mother of three children and the wife of Jay Johnson, a contractor. She has been assistant director and a counselor in the Birthright organization, which assists women with problem pregnancies, and hopes in her new role to inform young women of the consequences of premarital sex and teenage pregnancy.
