J. Stephen Mikita, assistant attorney general, has been elected a national vice president of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Mikita, who received the organization's 1992 national personal achievement award, was elected to the lay leadership position during the MDA's annual meeting in Los Angeles recently.Mikita is an expert on the Americans with Disabilities Act and a member of MDA's National Task Force on Public Awareness.

MDA is a national voluntary health agency working to defeat 40 neuromuscular diseases through research, service and education programs.
