Robbie Reid will attend BYU to play basketball and baseball, the university announced.

Reid, a 6-1, 170-pound guard, will be walking on to the BYU basketball program, having turned down several scholarship offers from respected schools around the country. He was also drafted by the San Diego Padres.In 1993 he led the state with a 29.0 scoring average. Reid is a four-time all-state basketball and baseball player from Spanish Fork High. He was the Gatorade Basketball Player of 1993 for Utah and finished fourth in the prep career scoring in the state.

As a baseball player the left-handed pitcher set a school record of 31 wins for Spanish Fork.

Reid was valedictorian at Spanish Fork High where he had a perfect 4.0 grade point average. He was named to the all-academic teams in basketball and baseball.

Reid is the second son of BYU basketball coach Roger Reid and will join his older brother, Randy, also a guard, on the Cougar roster for 1993-94.
