The 37th annual Salmon Supper will be held Friday, Aug. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Payson City Park.

Fresh salmon will be flown in that day, specially prepared and cooked over apple-wood fires on the north side of the park. There will also be continuous entertainment at the park's band stand. The tradition began in 1956 when Roland Lindsey, bishop of the LDS Park Ward, started the Salmon Supper as a fund-raiser.

When The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' financial program changed, eliminating fund-raisers, Payson City area organizers took it over as a civic opportunity to raise money for special projects. Money will go to help complete volleyball sand pits and a bowery at Constitution Park.
