A 16-year-old boy was killed when a chase with police along I-15 ended in a crash five miles north of Scipio early Wednesday.
The chase began in Nephi after two Nephi police officers spotted a Chevrolet Suburban northbound on I-15 without its headlights on. Officers later learned the vehicle was stolen. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it changed directions and headed south on the freeway, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.Police were unable to keep up with the car, so a UHP trooper picked up the chase, which continued south into Millard County, where deputy sheriffs placed spikes across the road near Holden. But the vehicle lost control 19 miles north of Holden and rolled several times, ejecting both occupants.
Joe Raez, 20, Logan, was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition.
