Hey, NRA supporters, federal politicians and members of Utah's "cowboy caucus." Hardly a day goes by without a letter proclaiming that proposed or passed laws to control guns violate the sacred Second Amendment right to bear arms. As a constitutional law and military attorney, I know (as does the NRA) that such claims are blatant propaganda.
As any school child (not to mention dozens of state and federal judges) could tell you, the Second Amendment's reference to "a well-regulated militia" does not refer to John and Jack Uzi sitting on Main Street with their arsenal of handguns, rifles and assorted ammunition stuffed in the trunk of their 1984 Toyota.Write and call the NRA and demand that lawsuits be filed throughout the country using the Second Amendment to destroy the villainous gun laws. If the NRA is so certain of its Second Amendment propaganda, it should jump at the chance to finally actually use "the right to bear arms" in real courts instead of letters to the editor.
