Traffic is really moving through the doors of "Sunset Boulevard." The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical broke its own house record at the Shubert Theatre in Century City, with gross ticket sales of $821,185 for the New Year's week performances that ended Jan. 2, according to show publicist Rick Miramontez.

The gross was boosted by a $75 top ticket price for the sold-out New Year's Eve performance - a premium charge that was $10 more than the usual top. The New Year's week gross smashed "Sunset's" own previous weekly record of $727,162, set during the second week of preview performances.Since the show opened Dec. 9, most performances have sold out, Miramontez said. Its advance sales stand at more than $8 million.

Meanwhile, the Broadway revival of Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" broke not only the house record at the Minskoff Theatre but set a new peak for highest weekly gross for any revival in Broadway history, according to show publicist John Barlow. It had gross ticket sales of $729,605 for the week ending Jan. 2. The production played at Hollywood's Pantages Theatre last year.
