KSL-TV officials say children's programming producer Brenda Beienburg Madsen, who was shot to death Tuesday in Arizona, was a "professional dedicated to her work."
"It's a real tragedy; Brenda Madsen was able to touch a lot of people with the things she did here," said KSL-TV spokeswoman Lourdes Cooke.Madsen, 36, died early Tuesday in a Maricopa County, Ariz., hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the neck.
Her estranged husband, former Salt Lake police officer David Madsen, 47, has been charged in connection with Brenda Madsen's death. David Madsen told Tempe, Ariz., investigators his wife was shot when his holstered 9mm pistol fired accidentally late Monday while the couple were arguing.
Brenda Madsen recently produced a series of public-service announcements about domestic-violence awareness featuring Arizona's governor.
