Singer David Crosby, who was hospitalized in Los Angeles last week with liver failure, was formally registered with national organ donor networks and is awaiting a liver transplant, doctors said Tuesday.

Crosby's doctors said the average wait for a donor liver is one to six months, although they cautioned there is no way to predict how long it will take to find a suitable match for the 53-year-old rock star.Crosby, who was admitted to UCLA Medical Center Nov. 2, remains in fair condition, hospital spokeswoman Simi Singer said.
