J. Allan Crockett, 88 years, retired Justice of the Utah State Supreme Court, after a life of service to the public and his family, was relieved of his mortal existence Wednesday, Nov. 9, 1994, at his home in Salt Lake City. He died of causes incident to age.
Born January 19, 1906 in Smithfield, Utah, the son of Rachel Maretta Homer and John A. Crockett. He married E. Eulalia Smith in Salt Lake City, February 3, 1934. She preceded him in death, December 10, 1987.Of all his many accomplishments, he was most proud to have fulfilled the promise he made his mother in 1916, the night his father was killed, that he would take care of her. He further dedicated himself to the welfare of the families of his and "Lala"s brothers and sisters and to his friends. His accomplishments were legion and his legacy, love and justice.
Survived by a son, Calvin J. and wife, Carol; five grandchildren, Barbara T. (Allen) VanBuskirk, Kim M. Crockett, Tracy Lynn (Luke) Scott-Zilly of Puyallup, Wash.; Phillip Allan Crockett, Leslie A. Crockett; and two great-grandchildren, Shawn C. Crockett and Korinne J. Crockett. He is also survived by his sister, Maretta C. Rushton, his brother, David L. (Marie) Crockett, brother-in-law Paul Boelter and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15, 1994, 12 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East So. Temple, where friends may call Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Rather than flowers, the family requests contributions to a favorite charity in his name.
