Diana Cardon, age 56, died November 17, 1994 at her home in Orem of cancer.
She was born October 12, 1938 in Oakland, California, the daughter of Henry L. and Lorraine Deirs Whiffen. She married Earl L. Cardon on September 21, 1959 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Diana graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in Math/Science. She taught secondary school for 20 years, most recently at the Lehi High School. She was active in secondary and collegiate student activities and later was active in the district voting precincts in Utah County. She served in presidencies of ward and stake auxiliaries of the LDS Church and was a devoted Christian and Church member.Diana was also active in the National Math Teachers Association.
Diana believed that her true calling in life was to teach others. She was a highly skilled and dedicated professional who loved her students. She was a devoted mother, with boundless energy and curiosity, who sought to be a model of righteous doing.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Diana was a loving companion through storm and sunshine for 35 years.
She is survived by her husband of Orem, and children: Michelle Dowell of Encinitas, Ca.; Steven M. Cardon of Salt Lake City; Melinda Bahr of Atlanta, Ga.; Melissa Waters of West Jordan; Cathi Cardon of San Jose, Calif.; Jonathan Cardon of Salt Lake City; and Joseph Eric Cardon on an LDS Mission in Bakersfield, Ca; brother, Henry L. Whiffens, Jr. of Concord, Ca.; sisters, Signe Klokinis of Mesa, Ariz. and Caroline Taverna of Oceanside, Ca.; six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 21, 1994 at 11 a.m. in the Lakeview LDS Stake Center, 1800 South 400 West, Orem. Friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St., Orem and Monday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
