A book written by Brigham Young University professor emeritus Ray H. Garrison has won a national award from the Text and Academic Authors Association.

The book, "Managerial Accounting," seventh edition, is one of only two books in its field chosen by the association to receive the 1994 Textbook Excellence Award. The group recognizes academic textbooks that have had a significant impact on disciplines for which they were written.Garrison's book was selected from books published in a new edition during 1993 and 1994 in the combined areas of accounting, business, economics and management.

"Managerial Accounting" was first published in 1976 and has since been used in hundreds of colleges and universities worldwide. It has been translated into several languages, including French, Russian and Chinese. The book was among the initial group of textbooks admitted into mainland China when that country opened its doors to the West several years ago.
