A 14-year-old boy playing hooky was killed when his go-cart was run over by a tractor-trailer.
Only 45 minutes before Wednesday's accident, the eighth grader who missed 19 of 55 days this year at Frostproof Middle-Senior High School had been warned about skipping school.Counselor Walter Vanderpool said he told Brian Leet to go to school. The boy agreed.
But soon after Vanderpool left, the boy got into the four-wheel, homemade cart, which had no brakes. He drove down a dirt road, went through a stop sign and crossed into the truck's path, said Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Frank Yodonis. No charges were filed.
