Raymond Edwin Nelson, 74, of Pleasant Grove, died January 30, 1994, at a Salt Lake hospital.
He was born October 23, 1919 in Ruth, Nevada to Olaf Edevind and Florence Mae Williams Nelson. He married Dorothy Leah Brossard December 21, 1940 in Sacramento, California. The marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.He was an active member of the LDS Church holding the office of High Priest in the Manila 7th Ward. He was a convert to the LDS Church, and had served in many administrative positions including bishoprics and stake presidencies. He was an accomplished musician, belonging to the Bohemian Club in San Francisco for many years. He was an insurance executive, serving as president of Bailey, Martin and Fay, Inc. of California.
He is survived by his wife of Pleasant Grove; his children: Larry, Nancy, Eric, Christy, and Ray, Jr.; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m., at the Manila 7th Ward Chapel, 3986 West 8800 North. There will be no public viewing/visitation. Friends may assemble at the chapel. Graveside services will be Friday at Taylorsville, California.
