Herman Skov Fonnesbeck, 83, of Logan, died Saturday, February 12, 1994 at Logan Regional Hospital.

He was born June 30, 1910 in Logan, the son of Christian and Marie C. Jorgensen Fonnesbeck. He married Melvina Elizabeth Larsen, March 12, 1936 in Brigham City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.He received his early education in Howell, Utah, and graduated from Bear River High School. He attended Utah State University. He farmed in Box Elder County for over 30 years, worked for the County Soil Conservation Service, and also spent 18 years as an Inspection Engineer at Morton-Thiokol Corp. He taught school in Box Elder County as well.

He was an avid outdoorsman, widely renown as an expert fisherman, and loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He particularly enjoyed teaching his grandchildren and young people to bait a hook and cast a line. He loved all types of sports and served as a coach in many of the local youth and church programs.

An active member of the LDS Church, he was a High Priest in the Logan 23rd Ward, where he had served as an instructor for many years. He had served in various other organizations and auxiliaries throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife, of Logan; four sons, two daughter and their spouses: Mel and Linda Fonnesbeck, of Cedar City; Deanna and Gordon Wilson, of Longmont, Colorado; Karen and Steven Reeder, of Weston, Idaho; Cordell and Pat Fonnesbeck, of Casper, Wyoming; and Forrest and Terry Fonnesbeck, and Rex (Dusty) and Jackie Fonnesbeck, all of St. George; 25 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, Verdun Fonnesbeck, of Brigham City. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, four sisters, as well as two half brothers, four half sisters.

Funeral services will be held, 12 noon, Tuesday, February 15, 1994 at Logan 23rd Ward Chapel, 565 East 100 So., with Bishop George Thomsen conducting. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Cranney Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North, Logan, and again at the church Tuesday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Logan City Cemetery.
