A 9-0 whitewash of the University of Houston in straight sets Friday gave BYU's 17th-ranked women's tennis team its fifth victory of the season against just one loss.

At No. 1 singles, BYU sophomore Jennifer Saret broke Catherine Bromfield three times in the first set to win 6-2, 6-0.Cougar Evi Koljanin at No. 2 was beat stretched to 7-5 in the first set by Cecilia Piedrahita 7-5, 6-1, in a match interrupted because of a leaky roof.

Other singles winners were Cherie Kaneshiro at No. 3 over Karen Dasprez 6-3, 6-2, Julie Menefee at No. 4 over Cathy Sanchez 6-1, 6-0, Sarah Mugnaini at No. 5 over Amanda Barnett 6-0, 6-1 and Michelle Domanico at No. 6 over Kristen Paris 6-4, 6-1.

In doubles, No. 1 Saret and Domanico beat Piedrahita and Dasprez 7-5, 6-1. Koljanin and Menefee at No. 2 doubles lifted their season record to 6-0 by dropping Bromfield and Paris 6-0, 6-1. And No 3 doubles, Kaneshiro and Juliet Alder dispatched Sanchez and Barnett 6-2, 6-0.
