Michael Jackson didn't steal "Dangerous" from a little-known songwriter, a jury ruled.

The U.S. District Court jury in Denver took 31/2 hours Tuesday to find Jackson not guilty of copyright infringement. "Dangerous" became a mega-hit in 1992.Denver songwriter Crystal Cartier claimed the pop superstar stole the song from her after hearing it on a demo tape she gave him.

Jackson sang on the witness stand Monday. He said he wrote "Dangerous" in 1990 while sitting alone in the dark, and was granted a copyright for the song in 1992.

The superstar denied ever hearing Cartier's tune before her lawsuit, which sought more than $40 million in damages.
