Renaldo Turnbull, who tied Reggie White for the NFC sack lead his first year as a starter with 13, signed a five-year contract with the New Orleans Saints.

Turnbull, the Saints No. 1 draft choice in 1990, switched from defensive end to linebacker when the Saints traded Pat Swilling to Detroit last spring. He quickly developed into one of the top players in the league, made the Pro Bowl and was selected first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press.Turnbull's contract is thought to be worth close to $3 million a year, based on the average salary of $2.5 million for a transition linebacker.
