Erin Wharton, a fifth-grader at Sunrise Elementary School, Jordan District, has won the $1,000 first-place award for a poster in the annual U.S. Savings Bonds contest. His poster will be entered in national competition.

Second place went to Landon Delroy Clark, a fourth-grader in Garland Elementary, Box Elder District, and third place to Nathan D. Blass, a sixth-grader in Midvalley Elementary, Jordan District. They won $500 and $200, respectively. Gov. Mike Leavitt presented the awards recently at the state Capitol.In all, 245 entries were submitted in the Utah contest. The U.S. Treasury Department and Lockheed Corp. are national sponsors and E-Systems was a state sponsor.
