Dennis Rodman of the San Antonio Spurs was suspended for one game and fined $5,000 by the NBA today for head-butting John Stockton of the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred with 2:01 remaining in the fourth quarter of Utah's 106-96 victory over the Spurs.NBA guidelines require an automatic one-game suspension for any head-butt or punch. Rodman will miss tonight's game between the Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers at San Antonio.

The fine imposed by Rod Thorn, the NBA's vice president for operations, in addition to penalizing the head-butt was for Rodman's subsequent comments about the NBA and its officiating.
