The Utah Statehood Centennial Commission has announced the appointment of a new executive director.Rep. Kim Burningham, R-Bountiful, was selected by Gov. Mike Leavitt from a list of candidates recommended by the commission.
Burningham plans to resign from his position with the Utah House before assuming his new job on March 15. He has served in the House for the past 15 years and as chairman of the Legislature's Community and Economic Development Committee since 1985.

"Kim is exceptionally well-qualified to serve in this position, which is so important to the celebration of the century," said commission Chairman Stephen M. Studdert.
