Anita Morris, best-known for her provocative performance in the Broadway musical "Nine," died Wednesday of cancer. She was 50.

Wearing a black, see-through body stocking, Morris sang "Call to the Vatican" while acting out an acrobatic sexual fantasy in "Nine." Her performance of that number was banned from the 1982 Tony awards telecast, although "Nine" won the award for best musical that year.Morris also appeared in such Broadway shows as "Seesaw," "The Magic Show," "Rachel Lily Rosenbloom," "Sugar Babies" and "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas."

Her movie credits included "The Hotel New Hampshire," "Ruthless People" and the soon-to-be-released "Radioland Murders."
