Brett McMickell of Ogden was selected to take part in the National Young Leaders Conference that was held recently in Washington, D.C. McMickell, a student at Ogden High School, was among 350 selected from across the nation to attend the leadership training conference.

Lew Robbins of Salt Lake City was recently selected to receive a Citizen of the Year Award from the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.Bountiful High School's drill team won its eighth straight state championship recently in competition at Northridge High School in Layton. The team, the Mandonelles, will be competing for national honors in April in California.

Chad Marriott, a student at Alta High School, was the Utah winner in the 1994 National High School Essay Contest on the United Nations. Marriott's essay, "Conditional Intervention," will now compete with the winning essays from other states for top national prizes.

- Stephen M. Holder, son of Stephen C. and Christie Holder of Salt Lake City, has received the silver wings of an Army aviator and was appointed a warrant officer upon completion of the rotary wing aviator course at Fort Rucker, Ala.

- Martin O. Jensen, son of Theron and Shirley Jensen of Salt Lake City, has enlisted in the Air Force.

- Army Pvt. Matthew H. Forsgren, son of Thomas W. and Jane Forsgren of Salt Lake City, recently graduated from the Infantry Training Brigade at Fort Benning, Ga.

- Army Pvt. Lawrence J. Nelson, son of John R. Nelson of Draper, recently completed basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

- Army Pvt. Jose A. Merino, son of Ida H. Stulec of Midvale, recently completed basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

- Donna Dawn Adams of Grantsville, daughter of Vicki and Milton Adams, has enlisted in the Air Force's Delayed Enlistment Program.

- Dallas Stuart Green of Woods Cross, son of Douglas Green, has enlisted in the Air Force's Delayed Enlistment Program.

- Greg Alan Taylor of Salt Lake City, son of Alan and Cheryl Taylor, has enlisted in the Air Force's Delayed Enlistment Program.

- Rachel L. Reed, daughter of George and Gretchen Reed of Salt Lake City, has enlisted in the Army for three years.

- Army Spec. David R. Best, son of David L. and Susan Best of West Valley City, recently re-enlisted in the Army for four years.

- Michael Kinney of Sandy has enlisted in the Army for four years.

- Robert Palfy, son of Patricia Eunis of Salt Lake City, has enlisted in the Army for three years.
