Three Tooele teenagers were killed when their car collided with a train Sunday, and two other people were killed in unrelated accidents over the weekend.

Killed in the accidents were:Becky Booth, 15, Tooele.

Florence Valerio, 16, Tooele.

Rocky Carson, 16, Tooele.

Shane White, 19, Mona.

Amy Alvord, 19, 1166 N. U.S. 89.

The Tooele teens were killed at 8 p.m. Sunday when their car was struck by a train at a crossing on a little-used dirt road north of town.

Tooele Police Lt. Frank Scharmann said the train's engineer saw the car approaching and sounded the whistle, but the car didn't stop.

All the occupants were ejected from the car and it wasn't known who was driving. The car was registered to Valerio's father, Scharmann said.

White died in a head-on accident a half-mile south of Mona on the Mona highway at 2:15 p.m. Satur-day.

Andy Benson, 20, driver of the other vehicle, was released Sunday afternoon from Central Valley Medical Center, Nephi.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Fred Swain said the accident occurred during what he termed a "friendly game."

"Two friends were approaching each other from opposite directions on the Mona Highway," said Swain. He said they were each swerving in and out of the other's lane of travel, "greeting" each other.

White was northbound and Benson was southbound on the highway.

He said the two men apparently became confused about whether they should pass in each other's lane or pass in their own lanes. They each chose the same lane and struck head-on in the right-hand lane of the two-lane highway. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

Alford was killed when her car was struck broadside while she was crossing U.S. 89 just after noon Saturday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Alvord was crossing the highway from Crestwood Road about 12:15 p.m. and apparently stopped in the middle of the four-lane highway to allow a northbound car to make a left turn, according to UHP. Her car was struck by a southbound truck driven by Robert Sutton, 22, of Centerville, according to troopers.

Sutton's truck was then hit from behind by another southbound vehicle driven by Stephen Thompson, 22, of Kaysville, UHP reported.

Alvord suffered internal injuries and was dead at the scene, according to UHP. The other two drivers involved, who were wearing seat belts, were not injured. UHP is investigating the accident, and no citation has been issued.
