Annie Elizabeth Boumeester Hekking, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, has departed to be with her husband, parents and other loved ones who have passed away before her.

Born April 2, 1918 at Vlissingen, The Netherlands to Hendrik Gerrit Boumeester and Johanna Hendrika Van Yperen. She passed away in her son's arms early afternoon, April 5, 1994 after a lengthy struggle with cancer.Annie was a wonderful mother and a remarkable woman and wife. She married Hendrikus Aleidus Hekking on November 17, 1956. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 6, 1963. He preceded her in death October 18, 1991.

Annie was a pioneer in her own right. In 1954 her love for the LDS Church brought her to the United States and Salt Lake City, with only her nine-year-old son, a couple of suitcases, 50 dollars in her wallet and the wonderful Dirk Oliekan family who sponsored them.

Her demeanor was one of loving and sacrificing for her husband, son, family and friends with little concern for her own well being. Her greatest love was for her husband, her son and sister, all other family members, friends and strangers in need were not far behind.

Annie or SLA (Sweet Little Angel) as her late husband, lovingly named her, touched all who came in contact with her. Poor in health during most of her earthly life, she refused to give in to her many illnesses. With her little five foot one inch frame, she had the will of an Amazon and continued always in support of her family and friends.

Throughout her life, Annie Kept the faith, was a wonderful example to her son, a loving and supportive wife to her late husband, as close a sister as sisters could be and a loving grandma, great aunt and friend to those who knew her.

Survived by son, John F. and wife, Karen Hekking; sister, Albertje (Bep) Van Dijk; brother, Henk Boumeester; stepson, Adrian Hekking; grand- and step-grandchildren, Debbie, Tony, Sandy, Danny, Greg, David, Mike and Neil; great stepgreat-grandchildren, Little Johnny, Baby Tyler, Ziyika, Yosse, Alex, Jr., and baby Adrian. Nephews and nieces, Robert, Fred, Ineke, Johanna, Phyllis and the wonderful Hekking and Stekelenburg families.

Previously departed, sister, Hennie and half brother, Frits.
