A Santa Barbara County grand jury that spent three months investigating child molestation allegations against Michael Jackson has disbanded without announcing any action, Jackson's lawyer said Saturday.

Jackson remains under investigation by a Los Angeles County grand jury. Jackson has residences in both counties.Jackson's lawyer, Howard Weitzman, said the Santa Barbara panel disbanded Friday.

"It comes as no surprise that they disbanded without an indictment because there is no evidence," Weitzman said. "Sooner or later, we expected the grand jury to be dismissed."

Weitzman said County District Attorney Thomas Sneddon Jr. can call a new grand jury to continue the investigation.

Sneddon could not be reached for comment. A telephone operator at his office in Santa Barbara, northwest of Los Angeles, declined to take a message.
