Paolo Gucci, an heir to the Gucci leather goods fortune, is out of prison, now that his estranged wife has been paid almost a half-million dollars in back alimony and child support.

Gucci, 63, was freed Thursday. The payment to Jennifer Puddefoot Gucci, 42, came from a part of her multimillionaire husband's funds that are under court control.Gucci was jailed April 6 on contempt charges for failing to pay his wife. He has sought bankruptcy protection, citing debts of $90 million.

Gucci, a grandson of the founder of the Gucci empire, was bought out of the business by other members of the family several years ago.
