A well-known Utah actor was killed early Friday when his vehicle rolled on I-80 near the mouth of Parley's Canyon.

Mike Westenskow, 29, died after his vehicle veered off the westbound lanes near mile post 132 and crashed at 2:40 a.m., a UHP dispatcher said. He was alone in the car.Westenskow, who lived at 2451 Cardinal Way, had performed in a dozen productions at Hale Center Theater, including leading roles in "No Time for Sergeants," "The Rainmaker" and "The Nerd" and the StageRight TheaterCompany's productions of "The Seven-Year Itch" and "Inherit the Wind."

Westenskow also portrayed a grown-up Tiny Tim in Desert Star Playhouse's comedy spoof, "A Christmas Carol Part 2: A Dickens of a Christmas."

He also appeared in the final episode of ABC's "The Stand," and acted in NBC's "In the Line of Duty: Siege at Marion" and CBS' "Siege at Altaview."

His most recent stage appearance was in "Our Country's Good" in the Babcock Theatre at the University of Utah, where he was just completing his first year in the actor-training program.

He had been working as an assistant director of Hale Center Theater's upcoming production of "Blood, Sweat and Stanley Poole" and was returning from his job at the Stein Erickson Lodge when the accident occurred.

A memorial service has been scheduled for 9 p.m. Sunday at Hale Center Theater, 2801 S. Main, for his friends and colleagues in the theater community.

Funeral services are pending.
