Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Velma Marian Howard Evans, age 83, died May 7, 1994 in Richfield, Utah.
She was born November 1, 1910 in American Falls, Idaho, a daughter of Charles Ashby and Marian Jeffs Howard. She graduated from Murray High School, Class of 1928. She married Abel Wilkins "Wicks" Evans August 6, 1943 in San Diego, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died October 15, 1971.After Wicks died, Velma moved from their home in Sandy to Arizona and then to Richfield in 1984 where she has since resided. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in all auxillaries. The love of her life was music, and her great sense of humor inspired the creativity of this wonderful woman.
She is survived by her daughters, Dianne and Blake Barney of Richfield, Utah; and Robyn McDaniel of San Diego, Calif.; her grandchildren, David Barney, Shelley B. Naser, Stacey B. Snow, Angela K. Eltzholtz, Derek Barney and Stephanie M. Baxter; her great-grandchildren, Candis Barney, Trevor Barney, Cody Naser, Skyler Naser, Jayden Barney and Kaiden Snow. She is also survived by five sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 1994 at 10 a.m. in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Monday from 7-8 p.m. and Tuesday morning one hour prior to services. Graveside services and burial will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
