Free-agent defensive end Richard Dent, who spent 11 years with the Chicago Bears, reached an agreement in principle with the San Francisco 49ers.

Details still need to be worked out, but Dent could sign as soon as Wednesday. The deal includes a $500,000 signing bonus and $1 million base salary in 1994, the San Jose Mercury News reported. The salary would increase to $1.5 million in 1995.
