Federal charges were filed Friday against a West Valley man accused of kidnapping his 9-year-old neighbor and taking him to Idaho.

Allen Albert Christensen, 26 - a convicted child molester - picked up C.J. Christiansen at a market, 2495 S. Redwood Road, Tuesday without his mother's permission and drove off, according to district court records. He later took the child to a nearby church and told him to hide before driving to his own home for food and a change of clothes.

Christensen, who had befriended C.J. two years ago, told the child during the abduction that his mom did not want him back "for the rest of your life," the report said.

He was arrested Wednesday in Pocatello after a railroad worker spotted the two together and contacted police.

Thursday, Christensen waived extradition during a hearing in Pocatello after he was arraigned on a Utah fugitive warrant. He later returned to Utah and was booked into Salt Lake County Jail for alleged parole violation.
