Clarence Hartland Flinders, 88, passed away Friday, August 12, 1994 in Clearfield, Utah.
He was born September 9, 1905 in Logan, Utah, a son of Clarence Henry and Effie Manning Flinders. He married Zella Mitchell October 7, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.He was reared in Logan and Ogden. Clarence attended schools in Cache County and the Ogden area. He lived in Clearfield the last 44 years of his life. He retired from Hill Air Force Base after 33 years of civil service.
He was a high priest in the Clearfield 11th LDS Ward. He served in many ward and stake leadership positions, including high priest group and Stake Sunday School Board. He was a diligent home teacher. Also many years were served as a Boy Scout Commissioner for the Lake Bonneville Council.
Clarence was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved to garden and spend time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of Clearfield; eight sons and three daughters, Clarence J. Flinders, Troy, Mich.; Leon H. (Brenda) Flinders, Las Vegas, Nev.; George A. Flinders, Clearfield, Utah; Ray K. (Sherry) Flinders, West Weber, Utah; Reed M. (Sharon) Flinders, Clinton, Utah; Milton J. (Adele) Flinders, Clearfield, Utah; Dale E. Flinders, Salt Lake City, Utah; Carl E. (Debra) Flinders, Brigham City, Utah; Effie and DeLoy Ottley, Layton, Utah; Thelma and William (Bill) Parkin, Layton, Utah; Ann and Lenny Williams, West Point, Utah; 34 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are four brothers and three sisters, Milton (Mick) Flinders, Ogden, Utah; Willard Flinders, Brigham City, Utah; Donald Flinders, Yakima, Wash.; Lynn Flinders, Ogden, Utah; Mary Hughes, Sunnyvale, Calif.; Barbara Skidmore, Roy, Utah; Ileene Hein, Roy, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, one grandson, two daughters-in-law, three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 1994 at the Clearfield, Utah Stake Center, 935 South State. Friends and family may call Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. at the Lindquist's Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State Street, and Wednesday at the stake center from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment in the Clearfield City Cemetery.
