The following recalls were announced in June and recently distributed to the press by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Wait until you receive a recall notice from the car's manufacturer before contacting your dealer about remedying the problem. Not all of the vehicles of the particular makes and models listed here are subject to the recalls.According to the NHTSA, only about 68 percent of the owners who are notified about a recall have the recall work performed.

- 1994 Dodge BR1500, 1994 Dodge BR2500 and 1994 Dodge Ram. Recall no.: 94V113000. Number of vehicles: 7,000. Light duty pickup trucks built without a rear bumper. These vehicles do not meet federal government rear-impact test requirements and therefore have an increased risk of a fuel spill in a rear-end collision. To correct the problem, your authorized Chrysler dealer will install frame reinforcements on the affected vehicles. Chrysler Service Center, 1-800-853-1403.

- 1994 Ford Ranger. Recall no.: 94V111001. Number of vehicles: 11,400. Light duty pickup trucks equipped with 3.0 and 4.0-liter engines. The front fuel lines have a section of flexible hose that is susceptible to cracking. This can allow fuel leakage and the fuel, if it's exposed to a source of ignition, could catch fire. Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the front fuel line assembly. Ford Service Center, 1-800-392-3673.

- 1994 Oldsmobile Bravada. Recall no.: 94V117000. Number of vehicles: 6,315. These vehicles were shipped with the wrong owner's manual and therefore correct information about safety belt usage is not available to owners. Occupants who do not use safety belts or who use them incorrectly are more at risk of injury than those using safety belts correctly in a sudden stop or accident. Owners and Oldsmobile dealers are being mailed the correct 1994 Oldsmobile Bravada owner's manual and will be asked to put it in the instrument panel compartment and remove and discard the incorrect owner's manual. Oldsmobile Service Center, 1-800-442-6537.

- 1994 Chevrolet Blazer and 1994 GMC Jimmy. Recall no.:94V114000. Number of vehicles: 740. Light duty, four-door multipurpose vehicles equipped with a weight distribution trailer hitch (VR4) option. The trailer hitch attaching bolts were not tightened to specific torque. This can lead to loosening and subsequent breakage of the fasteners. If this happened while a trailer was being pulled, it could separate from the vehicle. Dealers will torque all eight trailer hitch bolts to the correct torque. Chevrolet Service Center, 1-800-222-1020.
